On 1 February 2026, our café at Pope’s Quay was filled with sunshine, song and a beautiful sense of togetherness as we celebrated Lá Fhéile Bríde in the heart of Cork City.

Shine a Light with Volunteers
As the first signs of spring appeared, neighbours, families, musicians, artists and visitors gathered to honour Saint Brigid and welcome the return of the light. The afternoon reflected the very best of Cork. It was open, creative, generous and full of heart.

Centred on the themes of Kindness, Connection and Community, the celebration invited people of all ages and backgrounds to come together. Brigid’s crosses were carefully woven with Helena Walsh. Paper flowers were created with the wonderful ladies from TVG Cork. Stories were shared, music flowed through the air, and local voices took to the open mic stage, filling Pope’s Quay with talent and warmth.

One of the most meaningful parts of the day was the support shown for Edel House. Thanks to the generosity of those who attended, over €400 was raised to support their vital work with vulnerable women in Cork and beyond. The kindness shown throughout the afternoon truly captured the spirit of Saint Brigid and the caring nature of our city.

We were also honoured to welcome Shine A Light and EIL Educational and International Learning Exchange, who engaged with the public and shared important information about their work in our community.

As laughter and music echoed along the quay, there was a shared sense that Cork City is at its strongest when people come together. Lá Fhéile Bríde once again reminded us of the power of community, heritage and simple acts of kindness.

At MYO Café, we are deeply grateful to everyone who joined us and helped make the day so special. Cork shone brightly, and the return of the light felt stronger than ever.
